Cabbage Masala is a light combination with mild spices. There are many varieties of making this particular dish. The one mentioned below is a dry variety which can be eaten with Rice or Rotis. This is equally a quick and easy recipe as Potato Cumin Seed Curry!



Preparation Time:

10 Minutes

Cooking Time:

15 minutes


Cabbage shredded - 2 cups
 Green Peas - ½ cup (optional) 
 Oil - 1 tbsp 
 Asafoetida - ¼ tsp 
 Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp 
 Mustard Seeds - ½ tsp 
 Red Chillies/Green Chillies slit - 1 
 Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp 
 Cayenne Pepper - ¼ tsp 
 Salt to taste 
 Sugar - ¼ tsp 
 Coconut freshly grated for garnishing 
 Lemon Juice - 1 tbsp 


• Heat Oil in a pan; add Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Asafoetida, Red Chillies/Green Chillies and Green Peas. Stir fry for few seconds.

• Add the Cabbage, Turmeric, Cayenne Pepper, Sugar and Salt. Mix well, cover and cook for about 10 minutes or until Cabbage is tender. Stir occasionally.

• Lastly finish it with Lemon Juice and Grated Coconut to serve hot!
