Spices of India
Ref: FES015
Size (HxWxD): approx 10cm x12cm x7cm
Diwali (otherwise know as the 'Festival of Lights') has many legends surrounding it and ancient religious beliefs:
Lights and Diwas are lit around the home to 'drive away the darkness' and to show the 'awakening of the light within ourselves'. Specifically, the lights and diwas are placed in open windows and doors to welcome the Hindu goddess of wealth Lakshmi. The lights are said to guide the goddess into the house.
The Diwali Festival is very much a time for joy, for fun and a time for family gatherings, food, and celebrations.
Small gifts such as Mithai (Sweets)
are often given at this time of year.
These traditional hand-made clay Diwas are used to decorate the home during the 5-days of Diwali.
Price displayed is for a
1 clay Diwa with Wax
. As these are hand-crafted Diwas the colour/decoration may be different to that displayed in the images.
Once the wax has been burnt the Diwas can be reused with a tealight or oil with a
wick
.
Product of India.
Note: Care should be taken with the placement of naked flames especially where small children may be present.
