Dal Vada is nothing but a crisy Lentil fritter. Its spicy flavour makes it a perfect snack on a rainy day. This is generally eaten as it is or sometimes served with
Green Chutney
and
Sweet Chutney
.
Makes:
10-15 Vadas
Preparation Time:
2 hrs
Cooking Time:
15 mins
Ingredients:
Chana Dal/Bengal Gram
- 3 Cups
Pinch of
Turmeric Powder
Salt
Onions
finely chopped - 2
Oil
for frying
Green Chillies
finely chopped - 2
Few
Curry Leaves
chopped
A handful of
Coriander Leaves/Cilantro
finely chopped
Ginger
grated - 1 tsp
A pinch of
Asafoetida
Method:
• Soak the
Chana Dal
in Water for about an hour and half or upto 2 hours.
• Then grind together the Dal and
Salt
coarsely without adding any Water.
• To this add
Onions
,
Green Chillies
,
Ginger
,
Turmeric powder
,
Asafoetida
,
Curry Leaves
,
Coriander Leaves
and mix them together.
• Roll this into a ball and slightly flatten it on your palm.
• Meanwhile heat
Oil
in a pan and drop these Vadas in the Oil and deep fry them till golden brown on both sides. Take care to fry on medium heat.
• Serve them hot with Chutneys!
