Golden Brown Semolina pudding in clarified butter.

Halwa is an Arabic word but the art of making it has spread all the way from the Mediterranean Sea to the Bay of Bengal. Among the most delicate of halwas are those made from semolina, or sooji, popularly called sheera. Sheera is made from semolina, roasted golden brown in clarified butter, milk sugar, cardomom, nuts and raisins.

A dessert that is popular in all parts of India, Sheera is served along with the meal or as the dessert after the meal. Serve it warm or cold, by itself, or with hot puris for a quick snack.
To heat:
Stove top: Immerse the pouch in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Remove, cut open, stir and serve.

Microwave oven: Empty the contents of the pack in an oven bowl. cover and heat for 1-2 minutes. Stir and serve.

Tip: Garnish with dry nuts, raisins & blackcurrants.
