Basmati Rice (Indian) - Natco
Basmati Rice (Indian) - Natco
By:
Natco
Ref: RFG028-p
Available in 500g and 2kg bags.
Natco Basmati Rice is a slender delicate long grain rice which enjoys a distinctive nutty aroma and is the perfect accompaniment to a vast range of savoury dishes.
Recipe suggestion:
Mixed vegetable pillau
2 Cups Natco Basmati Rice
1 tbsp Butter Ghee
1 Medium Onion, finely sliced
5 Green Cardamons
1 Bay Leave
1/2 tsp Black Cumin Seeds
1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
10 Whole Black Peppercorns
2 tsp salt (optional)
10-oz mixed vegetables (fresh or frozen) such as beans, carrots, peas & cauliflower etc.
Method:
Wash rice several times until water runs clear, drain and set aside.
Heat ghee in a large saucepan, add onions and stir fry until golden. Add all whole spices, vegetables, salt and chilli powder, stir fry for 2-minutes. (If using fresh vegetables simmer for a further 5-minutes on a low heat).
Add rice and mix well. Then add turmeric and pour in enough water to come 1 inch over the top of the rice. Bring to the boil for 5 minutes, reduce heat to lowest setting. Cover and cook undisturbed for 15-minutes or until all moisture is absorbed and rice is tender.
Serve with any curry or lentil soup.
