Mace
Mace and nutmeg are both derived from the fruit of the same tree, Myristica fragrans. Mace is the thin, bright red aril or lace-like covering around the shell of the nutmeg. Its flavour is similar to nutmeg but it is less sweet and more delicate.
Mace is used in the spice blends garam masala and rendang.
