Moong Dal Soup

Moong Dal Soup is a nutritious soup. Moong Dal is nothing but split yellow peas which is high in protein. Lentils are cooked and flavoured with minimal tempering. So this is a wholesome meal even for kids with any bread of your choice.

Ingredients:
Moong Dal - 1 Cup
Salt - 1 tsp
Water - 3 Cups
Turmeric Powder - ¼ tsp
Oil - 1 Tbsp
Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
Pinch of Asafoetida
Few strands of thinly sliced Ginger
Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
Coriander Leaves / Cilantro for garnishing
Method:
• Wash the Moong Dal several times until Water becomes clear.
• Now pressure cook the Dal, Salt , Turmeric Powder along with Water on medium heat.
• Once the Dal is cooked turn off the heat. Wait for the steam to escape and then open the pressure cooker.
• Puree the Dal using a hand blender. Add some Water if required and bring it to the desired consistency.
• Now heat Oil in a small pan, add Cumin Seeds and allow it to splutter.
• Then add the Asafoetida and turn off the heat. Pour this on the Soup.
• Also garnish with the Ginger slices, Coriander leaves / Cilantro and Lemon Juice .
