Suresh was born in Johor Baru, Malaysia in 1972 and has made curries and bumbu's his life's work and passion. Starting at a young age in the family kitchen, where generations of knowledge were gently imparted and eagerly absorbed, Suresh became a professional chef.
He worked in some of the best Asian restaurants in Europe, gaining insight into the way Asian dishes are interpreted in different countries and how, in some instances these dishes become far removed from their true origins.
The true curries and bumbu's eaten in southern India, Thailand and Indonesia are typically much dryer dishes than the anglicised versions of these curries we have come to know in the UK.
Bumbu is the Indonesian word for spice or seasoning, and it commonly appears in the names of spice mixtures, sauces and seasoning pastes.
Kumar's curries and bumbu's are prepared with the finest quality herbs, spices and fresh ingredients - such as laos (galangal), kunyit (turmeric), Thai coriander, salam leaves, chilli and curry leaves - to provide a true taste of south Asian cuisine.
