Ponni Boiled Rice - Top-Op

Ponni derives its name from the word Gold. Farmers in the region believe Ponni is a 'blessing of Gold' from the rivers that nourish the fertile fields of the South. Perfect for making tangy Tamarind rice or delicious Tomato rice, Top-Op Ponni Rice is an ideal acompaniment to all your favourite dishes.

For best results wash and soak the rice for 20-30 minutes. For cooking add 1-11/2 times water to the quantity of rice.
Cooking Methods:

Closed Pan Method: The mixture of water and rice should be boiled in a heavy base pan, and then cooked for 10-minutes, covered on a low heat. Turn off the heat and leave for 5-minutes, still covered.

Microwave methoed: Cover the microwave bowl with cling film , pierce and cook at the temperature specified for your microwave model. If using a 650 watt microwave oven, cook on high for 6-minutes. To reheat in the microwave put on high for 3-4 minutes.
