Cabbage Kofta Masala is a spicy gravy preparation. Koftas are nothing but fried dumplings which are cooked in the gravy mixture. This tastes good with Naan!

For Koftas:
  Cabbage shredded - 2 Cups
  Gram Flour - ¾ Cup
  Cumin Seeds - ½ tsp
  Ginger grated - 1 tsp
  Coriander Leaves (Cilantro) chopped - 2 tsp
  Green Chillies finely chopped - 1
  Oil for deep frying
  Salt to taste

  For Gravy:
  Oil - 2tbsp
  Tomatoes - 3
  Green Chillies - 1
  Pinch of Asafoetida
  Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  Gram Flour - 1 tbsp
  Ginger grated- 1 inch
  Yogurt - 2 tbsp
  Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp
  Red chilli Powder - ½ tsp
  Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp
  Salt to taste
  Coriander Leaves (Cilantro) chopped for garnishing


• Mix all the Kofta ingredients in a bowl.

• Heat Oil in a frying pan and drop a small ball of the Kofta mixture into the Oil and fry till golden brown in colour. Turn the Koftas occasionally.

• Grind Tomatoes, Ginger and Green Chillies to a smooth paste.

• Heat Oil in a pan, add Cumin Seeds, Asafoetida, Gram Flour and stir fry for a minute.

• Add the ground mixture, Coriander Powder, Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric and cook on medium heat till it starts separating from the Oil.

• Then add the Yogurt and cook for a minute.

• Add Salt and 1 ½ Cups of Water. Bring it to boil and then reduce the heat to low and cook for few minutes. (Add Water as required to get the desired consistency)

• Then add the koftas, mix well and cook for another 8-10min.

• Lastly garnish with Coriander Leaves (Cilantro) and serve hot!
