Shan Daal - spice blend for mild Lentil Curry
Ingredients: Salt, Red Chilli, Turmeric, Black Pepper, Cumin, Coriander, Brown Cardamom, Green Cardamom, Garlic, Ginger, Dehydrated Dill Leaves, Citric Acid, Maltodextrin, Hydrolyzed Soy Protein, Cane Sugar, Canola Oil, Silicon Dioxide (Anticaking Agent).

Dal Curry Recipe

175g dal mung (split mung), washed and soaked
45g dal masoor (split red peas), washed and soaked
125g onion, sliced
10 garlic cloves, coarsely chopped
50g tomato, diced
6-8 green chillies, whole
1tsp soya leaves, finely chopped
10 curry leaves
75g ghee/oil
25g Dal Curry Mix - to taste

• Fry the onion in half the ghee for a few minutes. Stir in the Dal curry mix and the garlic.
• Add the dals, tomato, soya leaves, green chillies and 6 cups of water. Boil on a low heat until the dal is tender and smooth (about 30 minutes).
• Heat the remaining ghee/oil and fry the curry leaves for 1 minute. Pour over the lentil curry. Cover and cook for a few minutes before serving.
