It can also be served with Raita... | Serves: | 2 | Preparation Time: | 10-minutes. | Cooking Time: | 15-minutes | Ingredients: | Ghee - 2tbsp | | | Cumin seeds - 1 tsp | | | Cloves - 2 | | | Green Cardamom - 1 | | | Cinnamon stick - 1 inch piece | | | Peppercorns - 2 | | | Bay leaf - 1 | | | Ginger grated - 1 tsp | | | Onions chopped - 1 cup | | | Basmati rice - ¾ cup | | | Peas - ½ cup | | | Salt to taste | | | Fried cashews and fried onions for garnishing | | Method: | • Heat Ghee in a pan; add Cumin Seeds, Cloves, Green Cardamom, Cinnamon Stick, Peppercorns and Bay leaf and fry on a low flame.
• Next add grated Ginger and chopped Onions and further sauté for some time. Then add raw Rice and fry for a while on low flame.
• Add fresh Peas, Salt and mix well. Transfer this whole mixture into the cooker and add 1¼ cups of water and let it cook.
• Alternatively, add 1½ cups of boiling water to the above rice mixture, cover and cook on low flame until done.
Garnish with fried cashews and onions. Peas pilaf is ready to be served.
