Spice Tailor's Tomato Garlic Chilli Chutni is savoury, spicy and tangy - part accompaniment, part ingredient and entirely delicious. Perfect for heat lovers who want flavour too...

Made with real, fresh ingredients this chutni is based on a much loved recipe from my mother in law. This Rajathani recipe is really versatile. I stir it into curries, pasta sauces, tandoori and BBQ marinades as well as using it in dipping sauces for grilled meats. I hope you enjoy experimenting with it as much as we do. Anjum x.

This amazing chutney is a variation on the very popular and traditional Lasan Ki Chutney, i.e. garlic chutney. There are so many versions of this intense chutney, some are simply garlic and red chillies, others include peanuts or sesame seeds. This version is slightly toned down with the addition of tomatoes and the resulting flavours are really beautiful; tangy and sweet from the tomatoes, spicy and garlicky.

Normally, garlic chutney is served as an accompaniment to snacks or with/in streetfood (it is spread in a very popular street food burger) or a spoon is added on the side of a plate while eating a samosa or dhokla or your main meal. It is also so useful and versatile: making quick and easy meals even quicker and easier and lack-lustre sauces and curries are instantly perked up..
This is a really versatile chutney so enjoy experimenting!

• Make delicious sticky, spicy chicken wings by mixing together 4 tbsps Tomato Garlic chilli Chutni with 1 tbsp runny honey, 2 tsp ketchup, 1 tbsp each of olive oil and Worcestshire sauce and a little seasoning. Skin 400g chicken wings and toss in the marinade. Grill or bake for 20 minutes until the chicken is cooked through, turning once.

• Stir into a tomato based curry.

• Add to your tandoori marinade.

• Spread over puff pastry, bake, and top with feta and yogurt.

• Add to burgers or warm sandwiches for spicy deliciousness.

• Add to prawns with creme fraiche for an instant pasta sauce.

• Stir into mayonnaise for a spicy Japanese style dip.
Ingredients: Water, Garlic (25%), Tomatoes (19%), Sunflower Oil, Tomato Paste (12%), sugar, Red Chillies (2%), Salt, Mango Powder, Acidity Regulators (Acetic Acid, Citric Acid), Colour (Paparika Extract), Turmeric Powder, Preservative (Sodium Benzoate).
